Duality - Esmer Andor by arkeis-pokemon Duality - Esmer Andor by arkeis-pokemon
:iconduality-oct:

Ah, here it is! My fifth OCT and the newest member of the Andor family (actually the oldest since this OCT takes place in medieval times).

Esmer quite different from my other characters. Please full-view the image and read the description below!

========================

Name: Esmer Andor
Age: 46
Height: 6'1"
Gender: Male

Personality:
Calm, cool, and collected. Esmer doesn't let any sort of stress or emotional turmoil get to him. He has spent years focusing his mind and for one very special reason - he has the ability of telepathy. It's a subtle ability and he prefers to keep it a secret for the most part. However, it has played a large part in his former job, which will be explained later.

Esmer doesn't care much for battling, but he is a brilliant strategist nonetheless. In a time when most of the population is illiterate, Esmer prides himself on being able to read and comprehend even the most advanced literature. He has amassed a vast collection of books ranging from all sorts of subjects - history, science, art, nature, etc. However his most cherished books involve the study and biology of Psychic Pokemon. He takes great interest in beings that possess abilities similar to the one he has.

History:
Esmer is a member of the Andor family and that means being part of the wealthy nobility. The Andors own a large amount of land upon which they've built their estate. Being close to the trade city of Port Vermillion (which would eventually become Vermillion City) meant easy access to a variety of resources.

Esmer never had many friends as a child. Before he discovered his psychic ability, he preferred to stay in his room and read. His life changed when he realized he could not only read books but also the minds of people and Pokemon. Esmer applied to university as soon as he could and went to study law. After graduating, he used his status and his wealth to become a judge. Using his mind reading skills, he could easily tell whether his defendants and witnesses were lying or not. Though many people doubted him due to his lack of judicial experience, they were soon impressed by his ability to always pass the right verdict.

This went on for quite a few years and Esmer gained a lot of money and notoriety. Things would soon change, however, when a new law was passed that allowed Psychic Pokemon who had no trainer to be tried in a human court of law. It was decided Psychic-types could be considered on the same level of sentience as humans since they can communicate clearly using telepathy.

There were many Psychic types who had been abandoned by their trainers and resorted to a life of crime. Some of them committed crimes severe enough to be given the death penalty. As a judge, Esmer had sent many people to be executed. But for some reason, it pained him to see a Pokemon been given the same fate. Perhaps he believed Pokemon to be more innocent then humans or perhaps he felt a special connection with Psychic-types. Nonetheless, he made a radical decision. No longer will he be a judge, but a new position which he titled "Pokemon Rehabilitator".

This meant he would work with problem Psychic-types and help them find a new trainer or turn them into contributing members of society. In order to do this, he created a device called a Psylock. It would fit around the head of Pokemon and block their ability to use Psychic attacks (but still allowed minor abilities like telepathy). In the middle of a Psylock was a Dark Gem because Psychic abilities are useless against Dark energy. Esmer also fashioned a staff with another Dark Gem attached. Gems respond to other Gems of the same type so this staff allowed him to control multiple Psylocks at the same time.

Extra:

:bulletblue: Esmer is ambidextrous, though he prefers to write with his right hand.
:bulletblue: He has been married for 18 years and has a son, who is currently 11.
:bulletblue: He can only read the thoughts of one person at a time. This has a benefit since it prevents his mind from being overloaded when he is in the middle of a crowd.
:bulletblue: Esmer is the only member of the family to have any sort of psychic abilities. He does not know how he acquired them.

Pokemon

:pokeball: Lazarus the Kadabra | Male
Lazarus is one of the first Pokemon that came to Esmer under his new position. Lazarus or just simply "Laz" has a deep hatred for all humans. He has been charged with torturing and even murdering innocent people using his Psychic powers. He was on "Most Wanted" posters everywhere and it took a lot of effort to find and capture him. His animosity towards Esmer cannot even begin to be described.

:pokeball: Melvin the Mime Jr. | Male
Melvin had a hard life and was homeless for a while. Living on the streets was tough and he wished he had a better life like other people had. So to resorted to thievery. Stealing was quite easy with the Telekinesis ability. No one would ever suspect that a Pokemon so young and cute would be capable of such a crime. Even if he was caught, he would be able to escape pursuers using Double Team.
Eventually, he met Lazarus and the two partnered up to become a formidable crime duo. When Lazarus was caught, Melvin was as well and the two soon found themselves under Esmer's custody. However, Melvin is a much better natured Pokemon and eagerly wishes to turn over a new leaf.

:pokeball: Gus the Drowzee. | Male
Gus is FAT beyond compare. A normal Drowzee weighs about 71 lbs, but Gus weighs over 230 lbs! He just cannot control his eating habits and this not only applies to the consumption of physical food, but also the consumption of dreams. When Dream Eater is used on a person, they only suffer temporary memory loss. However if Dream Eater is used repeatedly, that person risks losing their entire mind. Children are more susceptible to this and unfortunately, children often have the sweetest dreams.
So Gus was eventually arrested and become Esmer's third Pokemon. His Psylock is attached around his throat to reduce his food intake. Also, all his former Special attacks were replaced by physical attacks in order to force him to move more often and lose weight.
