Swellow's Flame Orb by arkeis-pokemon Swellow's Flame Orb by arkeis-pokemon
Oh no, Swellow got a Burn from Flame Orb! Oh wait that's a good thing because Burn activates its Guts ability!

Great art, but... Giving a Guts Pokemon Flame Orb doesn't help them at all; Guts ignores the reduce in attack, but they still take damage from the burn. Poison would make more sense, as you would get the attack boost and use Facade at full power.

the difference between using flame orb or toxic orb is the time you expect your Pokémon to be in a battle before switching out.
burn does 2/16 damage each turn. after 2 turns would be 4/16, 3 turns 6/16, 4 turns 8/16
toxic does 1/16 first turn and 1/16 more every following turn. after 2 turns would be 3/16, 3 turns 6/16, 4 turns 10/16

if you only stay in 2 turns you save 1/16 damage

You still take damage from Poison though, so there's no difference

And it doubles the power of Facade if it has the move... I'd rather poison it to make the battle quicker though. Sort of like a higher risk-reward, since it deals more damage than burn, but doesn't cut attack like burn does, and, and...

Pokelogic, that's the answer.

When you have the guts ability, burn does not cut your attack. That would be stupid don't you think? With burn and poison you get the same amount of attack boost. The only difference is that the toxic orb does less damage at first but it builds up while the flame orb does the same amount of damage every turn.

Doesn't cut attack, as in the Guts ability makes up for that lost attack? Because I know my Swellow got screwed whenever it was burned, and I did not see an increase in attack at all (YES, I was actually using physical attacks).
